How to Participate in Town Government - Week of April 23, 2023

This week that follows April Break brings a Town Election on Tuesday and meetings by Select Board, Recreation Commission. There are also two public hearings before the Zoning Board of Appeals.


Recreation Commission In-Person Meeting, Monday, April 24, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. The commission will discussion commission leadership positions, staffing, financial update, the Fishing Derby and facilities. This meeting will be held in the small meeting room of Wentworth Hall at 273 Washington Street. For more information, click here.


Annual Town Election, Tuesday, April 25, 2023, 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Voting in the Town of Westwood's annual election will be in the Westwood High School gymnasium for voters of all precincts. Preview the candidates on the ballot by clicking here.

Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. 

Enter to vote at Door 28, located by the Recreation/Preschool area to the left of the preschool entrance.

Parking during school hours of 7:25 a.m. to 2:05 p.m. is limited to the Recreation/Preschool parking lot. 


Select Board Meeting via Zoom, Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. Select Board will discuss reducing the number required for a quorum. After an executive session to discuss collective bargaining with unions personnel (police), the board will discuss Memorandum of Agreements with the union. It will take action on approval of Bond Anticipation Note (BAN) sale.

Zoning Board of Appeals Public Hearings, Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. The board will hold public hearings on two applications. A meeting packet is available here.

 Regarding the property at 200 Burgess Avenue, the board will consider the request to construct a larger front porch to the residence where the existing lot lacks sufficient frontage and area and the existing structure is nonconforming. 

Regarding the property at 16 Hillview Terrace, the board will hear a request for constructing a second story on an existing home that is nonconforming due to violations of the rear and both side setbacks.
