How to Participate in Town Government - Week of May 7, 2023

This week, there are four meetings of Westwood's town government as of the time of this posting: Select Board, School Committee, the Joint Permanent Building Committee/School Building Committee, and the Conservation Commission. More details are provided, below.

Select Board Meeting via Zoom, Monday, May 8, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. The board will reorganize itself, take action on the Canton Street Sidewalk project, and hear a recommendation on the Westwood Youth Poet Laureate, among other items. An update will be given on the status of town negotiations with Westwood Permanent Firefighters Association, Local 1994, IAFF.

Joint Permanent Building Committee/School Building Committee Meeting via Zoom, Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. Updates will be given on construction, budget, and the schedule. Also on the agenda are a review and vote on Change Order #6.

School Committee In-Person Meeting, Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. The agenda for this meeting has not yet been announced. The meeting will be held in the Westwood High School Little Theater.


Conservation Commission Meeting and In-Person Public Hearings, Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. The commission will discuss a potential tree policy/ordinance/bylaw and also hold public hearings on: 

  • Mixed use construction at 22 Everett Street
  • New construction at 350 Blue Hill Avenue Lot 1, Lot 2, and Lot 3
  • New construction of a single-family home and landscaping at 123 Weatherbee Drive

It will also take action on Requests for Certificates of Compliance filed for 92 Pine Lane, 472 Summer Street, 157 Bay Colony Drive, 83 Winslow Road, and a CRWA and NepRWA Climate Resilience 101 presentation.

This meeting and public hearings will be held at 50 Carby Street in the Champagne Meeting Room.
