Westwood Athletes Top Competition at State Meets, Student Musicians Receive a Special Message (Updated)

May 29th
The Westwood High School (WHS) Girls 4x400 meter relay team took 1st place at the Division 3 State Championship meet, and also set a new school record. This relay team had recently broken another school record in mid-May at the TVL Showcase.
The WHS Girls Track and Field team placed 6th overall in a field of 30 at the state meet, just a point behind Walpole which took 5th place.
Also bringing a record-breaking performance to the state competition was the WHS Girls 4x100 meter relay team. They set a school record, and finished 5th in their event.
May 28th
Composer Lauren Bernofsky praised the performance of Westwood Public School student musicians as "excellent" after viewing their rendition of her Electric Sinfonia, which they offered as a finale to their All Town String Concert last week.
“Congratulations to the Westwood orchestras on their excellent performance of my Electric Sinfonia!” tweeted Ms. Bernofsky (Lauren Bernofsky), as she replied to this Westwood Minute post:

Xaverian student Ethan Cross is the Division 1 State champion in the javelin event (Xaverian Hawks) with a winning result of 172-07.

Westwood's Select Board is looking for residents who would like to volunteer to serve the community. Openings that have been announced are:
- Dedham Westwood Water Board of Commissioners
- Westwood Environmental Action Committee
- Housing Partnership Fair Housing Committee
- Historical Commission
- Cemetery Commission

Graduating Westwood High School Senior Yvette Easton will continue her volleyball career at Harvard.
May 20th
Westwood Police Explorer Post 516 earned its fifth consecutive win at the Massachusetts Law Enforcement Explorer Competition. This win follows the group's wins in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2022. No competition was held in 2020 or 2021 due to the pandemic.
