Westwood's Reissfelder Helps Endicott Field Hockey to 6th CCC Championship Win
Westwood resident Kathleen Reissfelder, one of field hockey’s top five scorers from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), combined forces with two Endicott teammates (also top five scorers), and helped to give second-seeded Endicott the championship win over first-seeded Roger Williams, 2-1, on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Bayside Field in Bristol, Rhode Island.
At Saturday’s CCC championship game, Endicott’s Tori Swanson (Farmington, CT) gave the Gulls the first mark on the scoreboard. Maddy Dengler (Winchester, MA) doubled the lead off a feed from Westwood’s Ms. Reissfelder.
Chelsea King (Schenectady, NY) of Roger Williams took a shot that found the net, but the Gulls would win in the end, 2-1. The win gives the Gulls their sixth CCC Championship. They are undefeated on the road
this season.
With the win, the Endicott Gulls earned the league’s automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament. The first round will be held this Wednesday, November 8th, at 4:00 p.m., on Endicott’s North Field.
Wednesday’s game will be the first-ever meeting of Endicott, which is 3-2 against the NCAA Tournament field, and opponent Ithaca, which is 0-4 against the tournament field.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online, here. The winner will advance to the second round of the tournament on Saturday, November 13 at 10:00 a.m., and travel to compete against Johns Hopkins University.
