A family of three were found deceased at a residence on Wilson’s Way in Dover, on the evening of Thursday, December 28, 2023, in an apparent incident of deadly domestic violence, according to an announcement the following day by Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrisey.
A family member who had stopped by to check on the family called 911 around 7:24 p.m. on Thursday. Dover Police arrived to find a man, woman, and their teenage daughter deceased. They have been identified as 54 year-old Teena Kamal, 18 year-old Arianna Kamal, and 57 year-old Rakesh Kamal 57.
In an announcement by Middlebury College to the college community of which Arianna was a part as a first-year student, Visiting Assistant Professor of Education Studies Melissa Hammerle described Aria as “a brilliant student and an amazing singer” who read at Middlebury's Lessons and Carols service and sang in the College Choir. Additionally, “She was connected and engaged in class, and passionate about everything that she did. She was a beautiful writer and always did things 110 percent. She was a deeply spiritual person and dove into the material in the first-year seminar course.”
The DA noted that a gun was found on the premises and that a gun was involved. The District Attorney’s office states that at this very preliminary stage of investigation, the evidence does not indicate involvement of any outside party. The office believes there is no ongoing danger to the Dover community related to this incident.
