The Veterinary Eye Center - Massachusetts (VEC MA), a veterinary ophthalmology-exclusive practice, focused solely on eye care for pets of the Greater Boston region, is set to open on July 22nd at 188 Needham Street in Newton.
VEC MA specializes in diagnosing, managing and treating a variety of ophthalmic diseases in pets using the latest recommendations, diagnostics and clinical technology. These conditions include issues related to the orbit, eyelid, cornea, iris, lens, and retina. Examples of common conditions are corneal ulcers, dry eye disease, cataracts, and glaucoma.
VEC MA is led by Dr. Ashley Zibura, who serves as the Medical Director. A native New Englander, Dr. Zibura was previously the Medical Director of the second Veterinary Eye Center location in New York City. She previously worked in a large multispecialty hospital before joining Veterinary Eye Center.
The Veterinary Eye Center in Newton features four exam rooms and two operating rooms with specialized ophthalmic equipment, including a cryotherapy machine, a Phacoemulsification machine for cataract surgery, ventilator and anesthesia equipment, and an operating microscope.
“We’re very excited for the opportunity to provide increased access to expert ophthalmology care to the pets and pet owners of Massachusetts,” said Dr. Ashley Zibura. “Our team is passionate about delivering a high standard of care and a quality experience, and we look forward to connecting further with fellow veterinary colleagues and clients in the Greater Boston Region.”
The Veterinary Eye Center was founded in 2021 by Dr. Alex LoPinto, a veterinary ophthalmologist, in New York City and designed to be ophthalmology-centric. The Veterinary Eye Center in Newton will be VEC’s first practice outside of New York City.
