Three campers from Norwood Recreation's summer day camp, held at Father Mcaleer (Father Mac) Playground in Norwood, were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries on Thursday, June 11th, after a tree branch fell from a tree at the site, said the Town of Norwood in a press release later that day.
One child's lower extremity was trapped below the fallen tree limb, and Norwood firefighters worked to free the trapped child, according to Norwood Firefighters Local 1631 in a Facebook post. The child was transported to a local hospital. Westwood Fire Department personnel assisted in treating the other students, says the post.
Of the injuries sustained to "several campers," the most serious injury appears to be an ankle injury, said the Town of Norwood.
"Out of an abundance of caution, the Public Works Department will be conducting additional trimming and branch removal beyond their routine maintenance at the site," states the town in its press release.
The Select Board has no one to blame but themselves for what has transpired the past two days.
337 people showed up on a cold February night to vote against a non-binding resolution.
Yes, they did.
And this attendance and participation demonstrates how strongly folks on both sides of this issue feel about it, and how a majority of voters want the Select Board to withdraw from the lawsuit. It was a far larger turnout than in annual town meetings.
It is false to assume a large majority of voters want the Select Board to withdraw. You can only say that the majority who showed up wanted to say that. According to Google AI, the average turnout at annual town meetings is 3.9% from 2018-2025, this was 4.6%.
