The only contested race for the April 29th Westwood Town Election, with fewer seats than candidates for election, is the election to Westwood's Planning Board, and the open seat for Sewer Commissioner has no candidates, according to information updated on February 20th that has been posted online by the Westwood Town Clerk's office.
In the Planning Board race, three candidates are vying for two available seats. For the office of Sewer Commissioner, there is one open seat and no currently listed candidates. For each of the races for the other six offices with open seats - Assessor, Housing Authority, Library Trustee, Moderator, School Committee and Select Board - the number of current candidates is equal to the number of open seats.
The Town Clerk's office has posted an update of candidates currently running for elected office on the Town of Westwood website, and that chart is copied below.
Residents interested in running for election to serve in Town of Westwood government have until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025 to obtain nomination papers from the Town Clerk's office, and until March 11, 2025 to submit nomination papers to the Registrar of Voters for certification in order to be eligible to run for office in the upcoming election.

Partly Cloudy , with a high of 36 and low of 20 degrees. Partly Cloudy in the morning, overcast in the afternoon, clear overnight.
This is progress and I am glad to see the Select Board moving in the right direction. However, a majority of voters at last Monday's Special Town Meeting voted to recommend that the Select Board immediately cease its lawsuit against the Westwood Land Trust.
What is the citizen's petition about? I checked the town website, and the only information I could find on town meeting articles was from last year. The public hearing dates for 2026 are posted as February 24-25.
Apparently, you need to submit a public records request through the town's FOIA portal. What a shame, since it should have been posted to the town website upon certification of petition signatures.
Westwood Minute has obtained a copy of the petition and has added a short description of it to the article. A copy of the petition is attached below the article.
