Emergency responders performed CPR and transported a Norwood woman to the hospital following a car accident on the morning of Friday, July 26th, when her 2018 Honda crossed into oncoming traffic on Westwood’s East Street and then struck a tree.
Around 9:00 a.m. that day, Westwood Police responded to the scene of the accident. A witness told police that the Honda crossed from the eastbound lane of East Street to the westbound lane. This caused the witness, who was driving westbound on East Street, to drive over the center line and off-road in order to avoid a head-on collision. The Honda then struck a tree in the front yard of a private home on the same road.
The witness assisted police in removing the Honda’s driver from her vehicle. The Norwood woman was incapacitated and bleeding.
Upon finding no pulse on the driver, Westwood Police performed CPR until Westwood Fire paramedics quickly arrived to take over, said Westwood Police Lieutenant Christopher Sheehy. The victim was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston.

I am in complete support of the refurbishing and reopening of Norwood Hospital. I was working at Saint Elizabeth during this time. When steward took over our HOSPITAL group, Caritas Christie. They decimated not only our hospitals, but also two hospitals in the tiny nation of Malta.
Senator Rush is correct re: the ambulatory services. One only has to drive on RTE 109/Westwood to see the number of out of town ambulances going through town at all times of the day. Then they have to get to Boston or Needham.
