Eighth graders from Medfield's Thomas Blake Middle School hosted a holiday dinner and donation drive last Thursday evening, December 12th, and served residents of Tilden Village, after collecting over $445 in donations to purchase dinner supplies and support the Medfield Home Committee.

Thanks to the donations from over 40 Medfield families, students served turkey pies to the residents as part of a dinner that included mashed potatoes, squash, peas, corn, green beans, cookies, apple and pumpkin pie, cider, and Dunkin' coffee. Residents were also able to have meals delivered to their apartments via door-to-door service by student servers.

At the event that was coordinated by eighth grade teachers Anne Marie Fratolillo and Micheal Gibbs, Tilden residents enjoyed their meals while listening to holiday music performed by two violinists, two saxophonists, and seven members of the Thomas Blake Middle School chorus. After dinner, seventh and eighth graders sang holiday carols at various buildings in Tilden Village.

The students also collected toiletries and made gift bags to deliver to residents on December 19th at the Thomas Upham House in Medfield, a local facility that provides care and comfort to seniors in the community.

Nat Vaughn, principal of Thomas Blake Middle School, commented,"We emphasize the importance of giving back to the community, especially around the holiday season to our Medfield students. We see the kids enjoy making an impact as deeply as our community members enjoy their service," said Principal Vaughn.

The principal remarked on the students' passion for community service, supported by school families. "I'm so proud of our Thomas Blake students, and loved seeing them give smiles to so many last week," said Principal Vaughn.
