Police Log: Vehicle Rollover Accident, Indecent Proposal, and Other Stories
The news described in Westwood Minute's weekly Police Log article series is primarily based on selected incidents from the Westwood Police Department's daily log, and information provided by Lieutenant Christopher Sheehy and police staff through written records and conversations. Occasionally, Westwood Minute may weave a few facts that it obtains from other sources into these stories.
Monday, January 27th
Unusual After Hours Activity
12:46 a.m. Police received a report from security for Audi Westwood on Providence Highway that a man was seen opening the hood of a car on the dealership’s property. Police responded to the dealership and found a 54 year-old from Springfield who identified himself as working for a company based in Springfield which had just purchased a vehicle from Audi. The man told police that he was there to change the battery on the purchased vehicle, after which the man planned to drive the car to Springfield. The man presented police with a printed email message from an Audi Westwood manager which appeared to grant him permission to be on the lot after normal business hours.
Sunday, January 26th
Shoplifting Suspect is Mother of 2-Day Old Infant Who is Trespassed from All MA Target Stores
2:32 p.m. Police responded to the Target store on University Avenue where employees pointed police to a female dressed in grey who was in the parking lot. An employee told police that the woman had left the store without paying for a cart which she loaded with merchandise worth about $1,000 in children’s clothing, underwear, diapers, food, and health and beauty products.
Upon confrontation, the woman informed police that her husband was in the parking lot with their two- day old infant. She informed police it was time to breastfeed the child. Police pulled over a grey, Chevrolet Silverado, and confirmed the operator behind the wheel was the suspect’s husband.
The woman, a 24 year-old from Framingham, was issued a written trespass for all Target stores in Massachusetts and will be summoned to Dedham District Court. Police also notified the Department of Children & Families regarding the presence of the infant during the incident.

Solicitation for Pornography
9:16 p.m. A resident of Alcott Lane reported suspicious Snapchat messages to police. The 18-year old complainant reported that a male had messaged her and offered payment if she sent him videos of a pornographic nature. The complainant has cut off all contact with the male and was advised to report future such incidents to police.
Friday, January 24th
Reporting Past Identity Theft
9:31 a.m. A resident of Cherry Street reported identity theft on two past occasions. In May 2024, the resident received notice from a fraud prevention service that the resident’s personal information was being used on the dark web. In March 2024, the resident received a credit card charge of $2,000 from a hotel which was not known to the resident. That charge was disputed and reimbursed. The resident was reporting the incidents at this time to create a paper trail.
Missing Package from Apartment Complex
6:19 p.m. A Milton resident complained of a missing package which had been addressed for receipt by the resident at an apartment on University Avenue. The complainant received notice that the delivery was made on January 17th, but was unable to locate the package in the delivery area. The expected package was a down jacket worth $580.
Wednesday, January 22nd
Suspect Removes Merchandise from Packaging, Conceals It in Clothing
1:00 p.m. Police responded to Target where loss prevention staff had a suspected shoplifter in the store office. The suspect was known to staff as having a history of shoplifting, and was closely watched while in the store. The 33 year-old Boston resident was confronted after passing through the self-checkout with no merchandise, and was discovered to have a memory card which he had removed from its packaging and concealed in his clothing. Police also discovered the suspect had a warrant from Roxbury District Court for larceny. He was arrested.
Fraudulent Purchase of iPhones on Verizon Account
6:47 p.m. An officer took a report of identity theft from a couple residing on Fisher Street. The wife had received a bill from Verizon for activating an account that included an order for three iPhones to be delivered. The residents had not initiated the transactions. Police advised the couple to put a watch or freeze on their credit and to report the incident to credit reporting bureaus.
Tuesday, January 21st
Missing License Plate
12:05 p.m. A resident of Dorchester complained the license plate of her vehicle went missing while her 2020 Audi Q8 was being serviced by a Westwood car dealership. The woman reported that she dropped her car off for service on December 10, 2024, and one month later, her vehicle was transferred to an Audi repair shop in Shrewsbury for further service. She noted that the rear license plate was lost in this timeframe between December 10th and January 10th.
Vehicle Rollover Accident
5:41 p.m. Police responded to the scene of Gay Street and Pine Lane where a 2015 Toyota RAV4 was rolled over on the driver’s side, trapping the operator inside. Westwood Fire paramedics stabilized the vehicle and extricated the driver, who declined treatment.
Based on the witness reports, the RAV4 was travelling west on Gay Street when the vehicle directly ahead of it stopped for a pedestrian attempting to cross the road with her dogs. In order to avoid rear-ending the lead car, the driver of the RAV4 swerved to the right, hit the curb, and the RAV4 rolled onto its side, trapping the driver.
Police cited the driver of the RAV4 for following too closely and a marked lanes violation.
