Tuesday, May 25th
At 2:06 p.m., Westwood Police responded to a report that a white male with brown hair was being rough and verbally abusive with a small child while attempting to put the child in a car seat in the Wegmans parking lot at University Station. The reporter described the car as something like a Hyundai or SUV with an out of state license plate. Police searched the area and checked footage from Wegmans' security cameras, but no such party was able to be located.
Wednesday, May 26th
At 10:56 a.m., Westwood Police responded to a report of larceny at a residence on Farm Lane. The resident reported that $1,500 in cash was missing from inside the home. The cash was last seen the day before. The incident is under investigation.
At 5:02 p.m., Westwood Police ran a license plate check on a passing vehicle during stationary traffic enforcement and discovered the plate belonged to a car whose owner had a suspended driver's license. Police stopped the vehicle, and determined that the person driving did indeed have her license suspended based upon an OUI charge in September last year. The driver, 45 year old Dianne Dinatale from Millis, was arrested. She was issued a criminal motor vehicle citation for operating after suspension for OUI. Bail of $540 was set and paid, and Ms. Dinatale was released at 6:40 p.m.
Thursday, May 27th
At 1:32 p.m., a resident of Summer Street reported an assault to Westwood Police. The resident told police that he was playing basketball in his driveway when a black Toyota Camry with a driver and 3 passengers turned into the driveway. The resident admitted to throwing a basketball at the car. A woman exited the car and punched him. She returned to the car and drove away. The victim was able to give a partial license plate number to the police. Police conducted an area search but did not locate the vehicle.
Also at 1:32 p.m., a resident reported a juvenile's backpack was stolen from Starbucks. The juvenile and a friend had entered Starbucks, leaving their two backpacks outside while they went to buy drinks. When they exited, one backpack was missing. The missing backpack contained a lap top computer, schoolwork and supplies, Apple Airpods and a student ID. The student's school was able to deactivate the student ID and will issue him a new ID. The total value of the items was approximately $260. Police will be reviewing security camera footage from businesses in the area.
At 10:52 p.m., a one-car accident with injuries was reported at the East Street Rotary. The driver, a 24 year old white male from Quincy, was traveling on the rotary over the highway when his car went over the curb. There was severe front end damage to the car. The Fire Department and paramedics arrived and determined the driver had injuries that required immediate hospitalization. The driver was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needham. In investigating and talking to the driver, police determined he was intoxicated and operating under the influence. He was given a citation for OUI, negligent operation, and a marked lanes violation.
Friday, May 28th
At 4:22 p.m., a Bellingham resident reported a stolen bag from her locker at Lifetime Fitness in Westwood. She had been working out and returned to find a bag had been taken out of her locker. The bag contained car keys, identification, credit cards and personal papers. Detectives will be seeking security video from Lifetime Fitness to see if a suspect can be identified.
Sunday, May 30th 2021
At 6:29 p.m., a resident of Baker Street reported that someone had entered the resident's vehicle overnight and had taken some money in change. Police advised the resident to lock the car doors.
