On a cold, sunny morning and afternoon on Saturday, November 6, 2021, a loose coalition of makers residing in Westwood, called Westwood Artists, held a November Marketplace on the Senior Center lawn. Four of the five founding members were there to showcase and sell their creations, and they were joined by six additional local artists. All items were handmade.
Ms. Karen Flowers Cagen is a founding member of Westwood Artists. Many may know her as a familiar and friendly Library Assistant at Westwood's Main Library, but she is also a talented photographer.
Along with greeting cards, Ms. Cagen's creations included coffee/drink coasters that were decorated with her photos of local areas and items.
Kathy O'Donnell's creations seemed highly original. She created origami earrings in the form of fans and butterflies.
The earrings were made of metal, beads, and surprisingly sturdy origami paper.
Mr. Marshall Parker offered samples of handmade, artisan chocolate from Whim Chocolate.
Unique chocolate flavors included white chocolate with sage and raspberry, dark chocolate with rum/cinnamon/kumquat and lime, dark chocolate with bourbon, tamarind, apricot and lime and milk chocolate bananas foster.

Ms. Marissa Esposito of Coastal Beads filled her table with handmade jewelry, some appearing to ceramic or to be made from clay.
There were beaded necklaces and bracelets. Rings were decorated with animal faces or bees.
Ms. Rima Bechara displayed art made from recycled glass and resin and other mixed media, including hollowed out pumpkins. Her wares included pictures, Christmas ornaments, and home decor.
A particularly striking piece from Ms. Bechara showed a bottle of champagne exploding with bubbles, whose sparkling effervescence was effectively communicated by recycled pieces of glass.
Handcrafted felt garlands and wall art were created by Ms. Betsy Husted. She used materials that originated from woman-owned sources in Nepal.
Ms. Husted's felt garlands included soccer, animal and rainbow themes, among others.
Ms. Cynthia Senerchia of Cindy's Designs displayed one of a kind jewelry and her original acrylic paintings.
Ms. Senerchia's jewelry included beaded necklaces that make a statement.
Founding member Jane Wojick offered beautiful two-toned pottery, in the shape of vases, jewelry holders and serveware like trays, mugs, plates, and bowls.
At bottom left corner of the above picture, Ms. Wojick's creation of a jewelry holder simultaneously offers a small dish for rings, perforated rims to hang earrings, and a bowl to catch other items such as necklaces.
Founding member Kathy Zola united her skills in weaving with fiber to create warm hats, mittens, and scarves.
Ms. Zola's table also offered a whimsical elfish winter hat for children, ornaments, magnets and lanyards/keychains.
Ms. Lisa WB Walker is a founding member who works in pottery.
Her table included trays and other serveware that appeared both simple and elegant.
The next Westwood Artists showcase will be Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of Decor & More.
