Eversource has reported that electrical service has been restored following an outage from Friday, November 12, 2021 through 4:59 a.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2021. There were 548 customers in the Westwood area who experienced loss of power. The company states that the outage was due to tree limbs contacting power lines.
A UPS driver reported seeing a series of sparks traveling down the company's power lines near the High Street and Pond Street intersection around 5:45 p.m. on Friday. He said although streetlights remained lit on High Street, the lights in the surrounding neighborhood immediately went out, following the sparking.
A tree also fell on Nahatan Street, causing down power lines and a road closure between Clapboardtree Street and the high school.
A day earlier, Eversource had advised customers that heavy rains and strong winds on Friday would have the potential to bring tree limbs down on power lines.
Customers who find themselves still without power should contact Eversource at 800-592-2000.

Senator Rush is correct re: the ambulatory services. One only has to drive on RTE 109/Westwood to see the number of out of town ambulances going through town at all times of the day. Then they have to get to Boston or Needham.
This is progress and I am glad to see the Select Board moving in the right direction. However, a majority of voters at last Monday's Special Town Meeting voted to recommend that the Select Board immediately cease its lawsuit against the Westwood Land Trust.
