Following is an announcement by Westwood's Library Board of Trustees regarding the reopening of the Islington Branch Library in its new location.
“When is the branch opening?” As many of you know, supply chain issues from the Covid-19 pandemic have caused disruptions across many industries, with building projects being especially affected. Although shelving and furniture was ordered early in the summer, we are still waiting for the deliveries. We have a tentative date of shelving installation for the end of December and then staff will be working on putting books back on the shelves and readying the library for a late January opening to the public. Some pieces of furniture, such as the circulation desk, chairs, and new computers, have arrived and are being set up.
We are really looking forward to inviting you all to the newly renovated branch and we know that the moment we can get back in there, it will be well worth the wait.
In the meantime, we are so excited to share with you some of the new (and old) features you will be finding at your new neighborhood library:
We can’t wait to see you at the new Islington Branch Library!
Sincerely,
Library Board of Trustees

Thanks to Westwood's Library Director Lizzy McGovern and the Library Board of Trustees for sharing this news with Westwood Minute.
I completely agree. Washington St. also has some terrible patches, especially the handicap ramps. I don’t understand why the DPW is responsible for clearing sidewalks in front of homes and businesses. It seems that those should be the responsibility of the property owner.
The sidewalks on High Rock and Hartford have been pretty treacherous this winter too. I didn't contact DPW about it though.
Cloudy , with a high of 42 and low of 26 degrees. Cloudy during the morning, sunny for the afternoon, partly cloudy in the evening, overcast overnight.
A true hero, though I'm not sure about the naming of the intersection after him. We already have a school named after him. Is there no one else who dedicated their life to this Town that the intersection could be named in memory of?
Thanks for the comment. Perhaps other candidates for a named intersection might be considered by the Select Board if presented with a petition or similar process as what was used here.
