Inclusive Westwood Exceeds Goal of One Thousand Signatures in Support of DEI Statement
Inclusive Westwood has reached its goal of obtaining one thousand signatures on its statement in support of diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in Westwood.
The group, which is made up of parents and citizens who are passionate about making Westwood a supportive, safe, equitable, and inclusive town for all families, launched its signature gathering effort in January this year. On January 25th, the group had collected six hundred and fifty signatures. By early February, it had collected over eight hundred signatures. In a Facebook post dated February 17, 2022, Inclusive Westwood announced that it had reached over 1000 signatures, thereby exceeding its goal.
Organizer Mandy Taft-Pearman notes that the organization is continuing to collect signatures and invites interested community members to participate. Ms. Taft-Pearman is also an organizer of Inclusive Westwood's monthly standouts, which began shortly after the murder of George Floyd. The standouts have provided a way for locals to show support of marginalized people who experience discrimination and hate.
