24th Annual Boston College Arts Festival - Fri Apr 29 10:00 am

Boston College Arts Festival

Boston College faculty and students invite the public to experience the arts through music, theater, dance, poetry, painting, sculpture and more. The event runs from Thursday, April 28, 2022 through Saturday, April 30, 2022. All events are free with the exception of a few activities such as The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Dancing with bOp! MA Climate Summit - Confronting the Climate Crisis: Global Solutions, Local Action - Fri Apr 29 1:00 pm

Tufts University, Medford/Somerville Campus

 U.S. Senator Ed Markey and White House National Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy and environmental experts participate in a Massachusetts Climate Summit with other experts and leaders in the climate movement. Discussions include clean energy and job creation and movement building and organizing for climate action. [more details]


Next Generation Dance Performance - Fri Apr 29 7:00 pm

Boston Ballet Professional Division at Walnut Hill

Young talent at Boston Ballet School performs onstage, demonstrating their dance skills. Tickets are $10 and are available here. [more details]


Karaoke Night - Fri Apr 29 10:00 pm

Ward 4

Beginning at 10:00 p.m. on Friday and running until 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, Ward 4 presents Karaoke Night this week. Karaoke happens at Ward 4 every other Friday. Ward 4 offers dining, a bar, and gluten-free and vegan dishes. [more details]


National Antiracist Book Festival - Sat Apr 30 9:00 am

Boston University Center for Antiracist Research

Organizers call this event "the first and only book festival that brings together, showcases and celebrates the nation's leading antiracist writers." This year's virtual event includes over 50 authors on more than 25 discussion panels. Massachusetts Partnership for Diversity in Education

Area schools are seeking candidates in support of diversity in education at this virtual job fair.  Participants include Westwood Public Schools, Dover-Sherborn Public Schools, Needham Canton Public Schools, Milton Public Schools, and more. Community Bike Ride Art Around Dedham - Sat Apr 30 10:00 am

Meet at Dedham Public Library to join a group bike around town for about an hour, then end at the Mother Brook Arts & Community Center for their Open Studios.  [more details]


Spring Fairy & Gnome Children's Succulent Workshop - Sat Apr 30 10:00 am

Trustees of Reservations

From 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., children will create an indoor succulent garden home for fairies and gnomes from woodland materials that they gather on a guided nature hike. Children aged 7 to 12 can be dropped off, but children aged 5 to 6 must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver who can participate. The cost is $48 for each member child or $60 for each nonmember child.  [more details]

Mother Brook Open Studios - Sat Apr 30 11:00 am

Mother Brook Arts and Community Center

Mother Brook Arts and Community Center is opening its doors to the public for a free event on Saturday, April 30, 2022 to and Sunday May 1, 2022 from  11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.   Enjoy live music by local musicians and lunch by Bibi Cafe & Bakery while you visit the studios of over 30 resident artists. Shop artist booths, a gallery exhibition and a silent auction of artwork.

Science on State Street 2022 - Sat Apr 30 12:00 pm

Framingham State University

At this annual, free science festival for families, visitors will enjoy high-quality interactive activities, demonstrations and planetarium programs.  The event is runs from noon to 3:00 p.m. and is open to all in MetroWest.  [more details]


Vernal Pool & Pizza Hike - Sat Apr 30 1:00 pm

Trustees of Reservations

Join a guided hike to view Powisset Farm's vernal pools from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and learn about the life within them. A Trustees interpretive naturalist leads the hike. After visiting the pools, hike back for some brick-oven cheese pizza.The cost is $15 per member adult and $12 per member child or $25 per nonmember adult and $20 per nonmember child.  [more details]


Nature in Your Neighborhood - Sun May 1 9:15 am

Mass Audubon

Practice bird identification while learning about local flora and fauna with Mass Audubon at Wilson Mountain Reservation. Meet at the parking lot for a prompt start. This free activity is for ages 18 and above. Registration is limited. [more details]
