On the morning of Saturday, April 30, 2022, South Shore Habitat for Humanity (SS Habitat) members and a group of well-wishers gathered together to welcome the Dimitrovi family to first-time home ownership. It was just a couple of weeks shy of one year since SS Habitat held its ground-breaking for constructing the home, its sixty-third build in thirty-five years.
The home faces the corner of the intersection of Burgess Avenue and Highview Street, and has a Highview address. Like many other houses in the area, it is in the Cape Cod style. It measures 1300 square feet, with three bedrooms and one and a half baths.
SS Habitat Board Treasurer Bob O'Neill welcomed a gathering of supporters of the Dimitrovi family to the home dedication ceremony.
Town officials presented its newest residents with a welcome basket of gifts.
Friends and neighbors raised their hands toward the home to bestow a blessing upon it.
Standing together on the doorstep of their new home, the Dmitrovi family joined in the cutting of the red ribbon that adorned their front door, and prepared to enter.
Following the brief ceremony, the community was invited to tour the finished home and to enjoy refreshments with its new occupants.
“Welcoming home a new Habitat family is a very special day," commented Ms. Beth Lyons, Executive Director of SS Habitat. "This home was a community effort and only possible because of the support we received from many who donated their time, talent, expertise and financial support."
