Mark Your Calendars: Westwood’s "EV Cars & Coffee" Event, Sunday, May 18, 2025
The Westwood Environmental Action Committee (WEAC) and BiBi's Cafe & Bakery are hosting an "EV Cars & Coffee" event on Sunday, May 18th, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Westwood High School Parking Lot (Nahatan Street Side).
The event aims to educate Westwood residents about electric vehicles (EVs) and encourage greener transportation options. Local EV owners will be present to answer questions about choosing the right EV model, real-world EV range, home charging options, and the locations of Westwood's public charging stations.
“As an EV driver, I find that people are always asking me questions about topics such as range and home charging," said Julie Gervais, WEAC member. "WEAC thought it would be fun to bring Westwood EV car owners together with other residents considering an EV purchase, to answer their questions and share a cup of coffee."
A variety of EVs will be on display, and Tom Philbin, Westwood Town Energy Manager, will answer questions about EV charging options in Westwood.
Westwood residents who drive an EV and would like to participate with their car, can email WEAC at Westwoodenvironment@gmail.com. Additional information can be found on the WEAC Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/WestwoodEnvironment.
Proud to support Westwood’s journey toward a greener future, BiBi Cafe and Bakery will offer complimentary coffee for event attendees. A selection of Bibi’s signature sweets will also be available for purchase during the event.

This is progress and I am glad to see the Select Board moving in the right direction. However, a majority of voters at last Monday's Special Town Meeting voted to recommend that the Select Board immediately cease its lawsuit against the Westwood Land Trust.
What is the citizen's petition about? I checked the town website, and the only information I could find on town meeting articles was from last year. The public hearing dates for 2026 are posted as February 24-25.
Apparently, you need to submit a public records request through the town's FOIA portal. What a shame, since it should have been posted to the town website upon certification of petition signatures.
Westwood Minute has obtained a copy of the petition and has added a short description of it to the article. A copy of the petition is attached below the article.
