WestwoodWinds to resume live concerts
Invites musicians to attend Open House Rehearsal June 13, 2022
WestwoodWinds Community Band invites all area musicians to participate in its 11th concert season. After a two-year hiatus, the band is eager to welcome new members who share its enthusiasm for playing music together in a fun, supportive environment and performing for others.
The band is directed by James Giurleo, former Westwood Public Schools K-12 Director of Performing Arts. Its volunteer membership includes amateur and professional musicians ranging in age between 14 and 80+ who perform FREE concerts to the public. The band’s repertoire changes each year and includes pop, TV/movie themes jazz, Broadway and semi-classical styles that reflect our American culture and trends. Rehearsals are scheduled on six Mondays from 6:30 – 8:30 in the Westwood High School band room starting June 13, 2022.
If you are interested in joining, contact the director or attend the “Open House” rehearsal where any interested musician can just show up and bring their horn or sticks and sit in with no obligation to join. Refreshments will be served. Musicians are accepted with no audition however, all members should possess sufficient skills to perform music comparable to an average high school band.
For more information, go to the WestwoodWinds web site at www.westwoodwinds.org or contact James Giurleo by email at westwoodwinds1@verizon.net.

Senator Rush is correct re: the ambulatory services. One only has to drive on RTE 109/Westwood to see the number of out of town ambulances going through town at all times of the day. Then they have to get to Boston or Needham.
This is progress and I am glad to see the Select Board moving in the right direction. However, a majority of voters at last Monday's Special Town Meeting voted to recommend that the Select Board immediately cease its lawsuit against the Westwood Land Trust.
What is the citizen's petition about? I checked the town website, and the only information I could find on town meeting articles was from last year. The public hearing dates for 2026 are posted as February 24-25.
Apparently, you need to submit a public records request through the town's FOIA portal. What a shame, since it should have been posted to the town website upon certification of petition signatures.
Westwood Minute has obtained a copy of the petition and has added a short description of it to the article. A copy of the petition is attached below the article.
