The Price of Beauty
8:22 a.m. Ulta Beauty reported a case of shoplifting the week prior, on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, around 11:15 a.m. A female had been caught on store security video going around the store and placing multiple items in her handbag. She had also sat down for a cosmetic consultation and paid for a few items before she left. The amount of the stolen items is estimated to be about $447. The store retrieved customer information on the suspect from its database, and a detective will be following up.
Sunday September 25
Air Bag Stolen from Vehicle
10:50 a.m. Police responded to a private home on Carroll Court where the resident and owner of a 2021 Acura showed police the vehicle from which an air bag module had been removed from the center of the steering wheel. A pair of prescription sunglasses were also stolen from the vehicle. The resident reported hearing noises outside on the prior day, but was not alerted to anything amiss.
Wednesday, September 21
Dog Attack
6:02 p.m. Police received a report regarding a dog attacking another dog. The complainants, a husband and wife, were walking their dog at Hale Education when they came upon two women walking two dogs, with one dog off-leash. The off-leash dog reportedly attacked the couple’s Schnauzer, resulting in a cut on the Schnauzer’s head that required a vet’s attention. The Schnauzer’s owners were not able to provide identities for the two women.
Delivery Person Drops off Food, Makes a Steal
9:16 p.m. A man residing on Chamberlain Avenue reported that a basketball was stolen from his property by the Uber Eats driver who delivered food to his residence.
Tuesday, September 20
Co-worker Conflicts
6:28 p.m. A male employee of a local car dealership reported having a verbal confrontation with a co-worker, followed by a physical confrontation with the same man. The complainant alleged being knocked to the ground. Police are investigating.
Obscene Text Messages
7:44 p.m. A resident of High Street reported that her juvenile daughter had been receiving obscene text messages from someone who identified themselves as “Johnny.” The daughter does not know any person by that name. Police advised the complainant to block the texter’s phone number to avoid receiving new messages. Upon a follow-up by police one or two days later, no further text messages from Johnny had been received. Police requested copies of the messages for the police file.
Monday, September 19
Student Transport Van Rear-ended at Rotary
3:09 p.m. At the East Street rotary and Canton Street, a 2021 BMW driven by an adult male rear-ended a student transport van driven by an adult female. The van was carrying four passengers – two juveniles and two adults. No one was injured. Minor cosmetic damage to the rear of the van and front end of the BMW resulted from the collision.
Unwanted Contact
7:35 p.m. A resident of Gay Street who owns a business was away when a former business associate paid a visit to the resident's home. The resident obtained information from police regarding how to send a trespass notice to the former associate to avoid further unwanted contacts.
