Thanks to First Baptist Church of Westwood for contributing this news to Westwood Minute.
After a three-year hiatus necessitated by the Covid-19 pandemic, the First Baptist Church of Westwood will once again hold its Holly Fair on Saturday, December 3, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the church’s Fellowship Hall located at 808 High Street, Westwood. The fair will feature some special attractions this year.
Local artists have been decorating some of the church’s old shutters and these will be for sale. Included will be shutters painted by Carol Ahearn of Westwood, Cindy Prevett of Medfield, and Frances Feloni of Westwood. These items that would have gone into a landfill have now been given a new purpose. Furthermore, a portion of the proceeds from their sale will be donated to the Boston-based non-profit organization Sunflower of Peace Foundation (www.sunflowerofpeace.com) whose current mission is to support the people of Ukraine.
There will be the traditional tables for home-baked goodies, hand-made items, gently worn jewelry, and the popular attic treasures that is always a good source for bargains. In addition, there will be a new table this year for “good goods.” It will include some gift baskets, some brand new items, some slightly used but special items, and perhaps some surprises.
Several independent vendors will have tables at the fair. Westwood artist Carol Ahearn will be offering her watercolor and acrylic paintings, notecards, bookmarks and prints of seascapes and flowers. Independent consultant Michelle Sims will be offering Pampered Chef products. Independent consultant Carolyn McDonough will be offering an extensive line of products from Tupperware. Kristin Chisholm of The Paper Flamingo will be featuring handmade invitations, gift cards and greeting cards. And Tyler Forgeron and Tracy DeRoma of Tyler Can will be offering handmade items.
At noon, there will be several choices available for lunch, all prepared on site in the Fellowship Hall kitchen. Featured will be homemade soup and chili, and there will be hot dogs and sandwiches as well. For dessert they will be serving apple crisp.
During the month of December, First Baptist Church will be collecting white socks for the homeless. They note that the homeless are always in need of new socks – for warmth, for comfort, and for good health. A bin will be provided for contributions of new white athletic (crew) socks for men and women. The socks will be donated to the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program.
The Holly Fair will provide an opportunity to do a bit of Christmas shopping, discover some bargains, have something to eat, and share a little holiday spirit.
