Thanks to The Walpole Footlighters for sharing this news with Westwood Minute.

Westwood actress Elise Blanchard returns to The Walpole Footlighters stage in the May production of Something Rotten!, pulling off the unusual feat of being cast in all three productions of the Footlighters current season.

Ms. Blanchard showed off her dramatic acting talents in The Humans last fall and played the ingenue in the farce A Comedy of Tenors (literally jumping out a window in her lingerie) in February. Now she gets to show off her singing and dancing talents as a member of the ensemble in Something Rotten!

Something Rotten! is The Walpole Footlighters' closing production of its 99th season. The musical comedy centers about Renaissance playwrights Nick and Nigel Bottom who are having trouble drawing audiences to their show because somebody else - William Shakespeare -  suddenly is the toast of the London theater community. Their friend, Nostradamus, tells them that the future of the theater is something called “a musical.” Despite thinking the idea is preposterous, the desperate brothers agree to try it.

Performances of Something Rotten! are at the Walpole Footlighters Playhouse at 2 Scout Road in East Walpole. Evening performances will be on May 5, 6, 12, 13, and 20 at 8:00 PM. There will also be matinee performances on May 7 and 21 at 2:00 PM.

This production is sponsored in part by the Walpole Cultural Council, a local agency, which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
