Select Board Approves Contract for New Fire Chief

Westwood Select Board has approved a contract with Interim Fire Chief Steven Lund on April 16, 2024, offering the interim chief the permanent position of Westwood Fire Chief.

A few days earlier, on April 12th, Interim Fire Chief Lund himself announced on Facebook the following  seven staff promotions, to become effective on Sunday, April 21st:

• Interim Assistant Chief McCarthy to permanent Assistant Chief
• Captain Valluzzi to Deputy Chief Group 1
• Captain Pierce to Deputy Chief Group 2
• Captain Mahan to Deputy Chief Group 3
• Captain Kilroy to Deputy Chief Group 4
• Lieutenant Kolozie to Deputy Chief of Fire Prevention/Training
• Firefighter Durant to Lieutenant Group 2 Station 1

It was around early April this year that Mr. Lund was sworn into his position as interim fire chief after holding the position of assistant fire chief.  He was hired by the Westwood Fire Department in 1998 and grew up in Westwood.
