How to Participate in Town Government - Week of May 21, 2023

This week, there are five announced meetings of town government as of the time of this posting. Two items of particular interest both occur on Monday, May 22nd:

  •  Westwood Select Board provides an update to contract negotiations with the fire union. It also holds a public hearing on a restaurant's alcohol compliance check violation.
  • Westwood Planning Board holds a joint session with Norwood Planning Board on an application by Mercedes-Benz of Westwood to demolish and reconstruct the front of its property.

MONDAY

Select Board Public Hearing and Meeting (remote), Monday, May 22, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. The board will hold a public hearing on what action to take regarding an alcohol compliance check failure at Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza. 

The board will give an update on the collective bargaining for the Westwood Permanent Firefighters Association, Local 1994, IAFF, and will enter an executive session to discuss it. The board will also hear a report from the town administrator, a Long Range Financial Planning Committee discussion, and make various appointments.

Planning Board Public Hearing (hybrid), Monday, May 22, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. At a joint session with the Norwood Planning Board, the Westwood Planning Board will hold a public hearing for the Environmental Impact & Design Review of proposed alterations to Mercedes-Benz, which is located at 425 Providence Highway. The applicant proposes to demolish and reconstruct the front of the existing dealership. Meeting materials are available online.

Recreation Commission Meeting, Monday, May 22, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. The commission will discuss commission leadership, a therapeutic recreation specialist, and hear updates on programming, facilities, and fields. This in-person meeting will be held at 50 Carby Street in the Champagne Meeting Room. Westwood Youth & Family Services Advisory Board Public Meeting (remote), Monday, May 22, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. The board will discuss the Recognize A Youth Award, student board member interviews, the Westwood Writes program, school and community liaison updates. TUESDAY
