All employees of the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO), their spouses, and dependent children, can receive tuition assistance with the majority of credit course offerings at Quincy College, under a Memorandum of Understanding that the Sheriff’s Office and the college announced last week.

“As Sheriff, I have made a commitment to my staff to provide opportunities for education and training for both professional and personal growth,” said Sheriff McDermott. “Quincy College is an incredible asset to Norfolk County and the entire region. This partnership provides NCSO staff and their immediate family the ability to take advantage of the educational opportunities this great college has to offer,” said Sheriff McDermott.

"We're delighted to join forces with Sheriff McDermott to offer members of his department and their families a broad range of affordable academic options close to home," said Quincy College President Dr. Richard DeCristofaro.

The MOU signed last week is the latest in a history of collaborative efforts between the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office and Quincy College to promote educational opportunity and advancement for all.

McDermott added, “Education can change someone’s life. NCSO looks forward to expanding and strengthening our bond with Quincy College in helping us to fulfill our mission for the people who work and live in Norfolk County.”

Currently, NCSO is hiring for corrections officers. Newly hired corrections officers would be eligible for the announced tuition assistance.

Under the arrangement, high school students who are part of NCSO employees’ immediate families can also receive tuition assistance with Quincy College courses.
