I first saw the "disturbing flyers" on my street on Christmas morning, as apparently a fresh batch had been posted overnight. I remember the November 2017 accident on Pond Street that is the subject of the flyer.
The flyers declare that a Westwood woman (with her full name) killed a child and "admitted" to hitting the gas instead of the brake when she saw the family in the crosswalk. The woman was prosecuted, and in 2022, a jury found her NOT GUILTY "on charges of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and negligent operation."
I do not know the family or the woman who was driving the car, but I can only imagine how terrible this event was to the family and how it would not seem that "justice" has been served. But I was disturbed at this attempt at public shaming, especially (from my perspective, unaware of other flyers) on Christmas morning...to wake up and see such a hateful attack...that someone felt so angry and frustrated that they went out on Christmas Eve to post these flyers to shame the woman and hold her up to public judgement by posting all around St. Margaret Mary's Church.
