The weather is warming, but there's still time for a winter carnival in Newton this Friday! Black History Month is also celebrated at a free concert by Mark Copeland & Friends, where vocalists will perform gospel, soul, smooth jazz and more.
On Saturday, a local planetarium plays host to the Earthrise Concerto, where live electrosymphonic music, science presentations, and immersive visuals will play for a family-friendly audience at 6:30 p.m. Another performance geared to an audience aged 14 years and up happens at 7:30 p.m.
Westwood Public Library is a hub of activity. Community members can get an original poem written for them by Westwood's Poet Laureate and Youth Poet Laureate this Sunday. On Monday, the library launches a series of events tied to its One Book One Town 2025 series. On Wednesday, the library invites readers around town to a community book discussion of Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng.
