State Police Investigating Fatal Crash on Route 95 South in Needham
At 4:40 a.m. today, Tuesday, April 30, 2024, Massachusetts State Police Troopers responded to a crash on Route 95 south near Exit 33 in Needham between two pickup trucks that resulted in the death of one driver and serious injuries to the other, announced Massachusetts State Police in a press release.
MSP state that a preliminary investigation suggests that one pickup truck went out of control, and when positioned perpendicular to oncoming traffic, was "broadsided by the second truck." The collision resulted in fatal injuries to the driver of the pickup truck that was struck and serious injuries to the driver of the second truck. The road conditions were wet from rain at the time of the crash.
Three of four southbound lanes were closed for about two hours as rescue efforts and the investigation were underway.
Police are waiting to release the name of the victim until after next of kin are notified.
