A Dedham resident and former nurse was sentenced on September 17th for tampering with liquid oxycodone syringes at a local rehabilitation center in Dedham, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Massachusetts.
Jaclyn McQueen, 44, of Dedham, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Julia E. Kobick to three years of probation after pleading guilty in January 2024 to one count of tampering with a consumer product. Ms. McQueen was charged by Information on Dec. 7, 2023.
From approximately February through May 2020, Ms. McQueen worked as a registered nurse at a rehabilitation center in Dedham that provided long-term chronic and post-acute care to patients. As a nurse, Ms. McQueen had access to oxycodone, a Schedule II narcotic, which was prescribed to patients at the rehabilitation center.
During her work shifts, Ms. McQueen removed liquid oxycodone from syringes intended for use by patients. She consumed the oxycodone herself, refilling the syringes with water to avoid detection. Ms. McQueen returned the diluted syringes to the medication carts where they could have been administered to patients.
The Select Board has no one to blame but themselves for what has transpired the past two days.
337 people showed up on a cold February night to vote against a non-binding resolution.
Yes, they did.
And this attendance and participation demonstrates how strongly folks on both sides of this issue feel about it, and how a majority of voters want the Select Board to withdraw from the lawsuit. It was a far larger turnout than in annual town meetings.
It is false to assume a large majority of voters want the Select Board to withdraw. You can only say that the majority who showed up wanted to say that. According to Google AI, the average turnout at annual town meetings is 3.9% from 2018-2025, this was 4.6%.
