On Thursday, November 14th, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., part of Westwood's Gay Street will be closed for the installation of a new drainage pipe, said Westwood Department of Public Works Assistant Director Brendan Ryan in an announcement on Tuesday.
The work is required after a drainage pipe broke, which led to the beginning of collapse of a portion of the roadway, said Mr. Ryan.
Mr. Ryan noted that Thursday traffic from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. would be allowed to flow on Gay Street only in the direction of High Street to Washington Street, but not vice versa. For traffic in the opposite direction, a detour will be set up using Fox Hill Street.
Then, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the portion of Gay Street between High Street and Fox Hill Street will be closed to general traffic, except of residents with homes in the work zone.
Finally, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:0 p.m., Gay Street will remain closed at High Street. However, traffic from Washington Street will be allowed to flow on Gay Street to High Street.

Sunny, with a high of 45 and low of 31 degrees. Sunny for the morning, clear in the afternoon and evening,
These are great strides in addressing concerns about a lack of openness and two way dialogue raised by Westwood citizens. Thanks to the Select Board and to Mr. Read for listening and acting.
Thank you Ms. Galkowski for this thoughtful acknowledgement of positive steps being made by our Town government. My generation loves the positive empowerment. Exemplary.
In promulgating the public comment policy, the Select Board has taken a big step towards showing willingness to engage in conversation with Westwood residents about the many important issues at hand—currently, the Fire Station 1 and the budget.
