Thanks to Newport Restaurant Group and Bar 'Cino for contributing this news to Westwood Minute.
Newport Restaurant Group, the Rhode Island-based, 100 percent employee–owned hospitality group that operates a collection of restaurants and properties across New England, on November 15, 2024 opened Bar ‘Cino in Westwood. Derived from vicino, the Italian word for “neighbor”, the new Bar ‘Cino is nestled in north Westwood on High Street and is the fourth location of the Italian–inspired dining concept which first opened in Newport, Rhode Island, in 2019, followed by Brookline 2020 and Watertown last summer.
“We are so excited for Bar ‘Cino to join yet another fantastic neighborhood in the Boston area,” said Paul O’Reilly, CEO of Newport Restaurant Group. “Since opening in Watertown and Brookline we’ve loved getting to know the greater Boston community, and we can’t wait to offer Italian-inspired dishes to guests in Westwood. We look forward to meeting our new neighbors at Bar ‘Cino Westwood.”
The informal neighborhood restaurant features booths, tiled tabletops, and artwork from Newport-based artist Sue McNally on the walls. It includes a bar and a small patio for al fresco dining in the spring.
Bar ‘Cino Westwood will be open daily for dinner, served Monday through Thursday from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m., Friday from 4:00 to 11:00 p.m, and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m, and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Beginning in December 2024, Bar ‘Cino will open for brunch at 11:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

This is progress and I am glad to see the Select Board moving in the right direction. However, a majority of voters at last Monday's Special Town Meeting voted to recommend that the Select Board immediately cease its lawsuit against the Westwood Land Trust.
What is the citizen's petition about? I checked the town website, and the only information I could find on town meeting articles was from last year. The public hearing dates for 2026 are posted as February 24-25.
Apparently, you need to submit a public records request through the town's FOIA portal. What a shame, since it should have been posted to the town website upon certification of petition signatures.
Westwood Minute has obtained a copy of the petition and has added a short description of it to the article. A copy of the petition is attached below the article.
