Although the weather may have warmed this week, the need for paying heating bills this winter has not stopped, and applications for help from the Massachusetts Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) are being accepted through April 19th this year.
HEAP is conducting outreach to let consumers know that Westwood residents have a local resource for applying to HEAP at the Westwood Council on Aging, located at 60 Nahatan Street. Westwood COA can be contacted at 781-329-8799.
Residents can also apply through the HEAP client portal by visiting www.selfhelpinc.org or by contacting Self Help Inc. at 508-588-5440.
“Getting help to pay for my heat truly gives me peace of mind in the winter," says one 93 year-old Westwood resident. "I don’t have to worry as much about how I will pay my bill."
Additionally, Westwood residents in need of temporary financial assistance can apply via email for a confidential grant award from Westwood Community Chest, the community's volunteer-run nonprofit which provides residents experiencing financial hardship with temporary assistance. Information on how to apply and the online application is available at westwoodcommunitychest.org/request-help/.

Sunny, with a high of 94 and low of 65 degrees. Sunny during the morning, clear overnight.
Such a poor business plan. Always was.
You're raising cattle on the land you could be utilizing for vegetables? Land that's more valuable (ROI) to growing vegetables vs. having insufficient land for raising enough cattle to make a go (profit) for your "passion". Not following.
Ignorant and pathetic response Sam Elliot. You know nothing about the business plans considered or the ROI on many agricultural contemplations.
Your Grandfather seemed to make a go of it. And for years.
What changed?
