Six female suspects who are believed to be part of an organized group of family members across multiple states involved in similar crimes, were arrested by Norwood Police on July 25th for allegedly breaking and entering a Norwood home, among other charges.

Around 12:30 p.m. on July 25th, Norwood homeowners in the area of Neponset Street reportedly returned home to find the six suspects inside their home. The women claimed they were housecleaners, then fled when confronted.

According to a Facebook posting by Norwood Police on July 29th, a short time later, a Norwood Police officer observed a vehicle matching the suspects’ vehicle, and he attempted to make a motor vehicle stop. The suspects failed to obey, and the officer pursued the suspects to Dean Street. At that point, the six female suspects exited the car and fled on foot into a wooded area.

One suspect was apprehended by the pursing officer. Other officers quickly established a perimeter.

One plain-clothes Norwood Police officer observed several suspects behind a business on Pleasant Street. Westwood Police responded to a call to assist at 586 Pleasant Street. The suspects fled when approached.

In a foot pursuit, the Norwood Police plain-clothes officer and a fellow officer apprehended two more suspects.

When an additional two suspects tried to flee across a nearby river, they were apprehended by a Norwood Police officer with assistance from Walpole Police.

A sixth suspect was apprehended shortly after.

“Thanks to the coordinated efforts of on-duty officers, specialized units, and mutual aid partners, all six suspects involved in the break-in were taken into custody,” said Chief Christopher Padden.

Norwood Police notes that it has worked with Homeland Security Investigations to confirm the suspects’ identities. Two suspects had obscured or altered fingerprints, presenting an obstacle to their initial identification.

The six suspects all have Maryland addresses, and several had active warrants from other states for similar offenses.

The six suspects were arraigned on charges of breaking and entering during daytime for a felony, conspiracy, possession of burglarious instruments, and resisting arrest. Upon making bail, three were immediately taken into ICE custody. Two men who arrived to post bail for the suspects were also taken into ICE custody. Three of the suspects remain held.

Anyone with additional information regarding this group is urged to contact Detective Ryan Marchant at 339-364-9632.
