A vacant seat on Westwood's Planning Board has opened up, and interested residents are invited to apply by emailing a letter of interest and resume to Westwood Select Board by Monday, September 22nd.
The vacancy arises from the departure of board member Sean Weller, who has moved to New Haven, Connecticut, where he is pursuing a master of business administration at Yale University. Whomever fills this vacancy will hold the position through the conclusion of the Annual Town Meeting, scheduled for May 4, 2026.
The position will appear on the ballot at Westwood's April 28, 2025 Town Election.
In a recent Planning Board meeting where the vacancy was announced, Chair Ellen Larkin Rollings encouraged interested residents to apply, regardless of experience. While the call for applicants lists experience with plan reviews, land use, zoning, engineering, and service on a municipal board as desirable, Ms. Rollings commented that the current Planning Board members themselves started on the board without such experience.
Interested applicants can click here for more information on how to apply from the town's website.
Partly Cloudy , with a high of 36 and low of 20 degrees. Partly Cloudy in the morning, overcast in the afternoon, clear overnight.
This is progress and I am glad to see the Select Board moving in the right direction. However, a majority of voters at last Monday's Special Town Meeting voted to recommend that the Select Board immediately cease its lawsuit against the Westwood Land Trust.
What is the citizen's petition about? I checked the town website, and the only information I could find on town meeting articles was from last year. The public hearing dates for 2026 are posted as February 24-25.
Apparently, you need to submit a public records request through the town's FOIA portal. What a shame, since it should have been posted to the town website upon certification of petition signatures.
Westwood Minute has obtained a copy of the petition and has added a short description of it to the article. A copy of the petition is attached below the article.
