War is Hell.
I served on submarines, throughout the 80’s. While there wasn’t a war, per se; we fought the Cold War. Even if there were an actual war at the time – nobody was shooting at me. But, as Westwood’s former Veteran’s Services Officer, and a mentor at the Norfolk County Veteran’s Treatment Court for many years – I’ve interacted personally with hundreds of Veterans over many years; Veteran’s from WWII through today. I can say with confidence, war is hell.
There are two things that are true about war – the hell of war reveals itself in so many different, unexpected ways, and it leaves deep, long-lasting scars on the souls of the men and women who have endured. A terrific piece in the Boston Globe frames both of these so poignantly. Please take a moment to read it; and on Tuesday, 11/11 at 11AM – take another moment to give thanks and appreciation to all who have served; especially those who served in combat.

Sunny, with a high of 94 and low of 61 degrees. Sunny for the morning, clear overnight.
That must explain all the lawn sprinklers I saw running Wednesday morning. Oh wait, this takes effect Monday?
This needed to happen 5 years ago. But now the real wrangling begins as MPT will fight to get as much $$$ as they can from the state as possible”just compensation.”
