On May 2, 2026 at 10:00 AM, Westwood’s Scout Troop 3 will celebrate three of its newest Eagle Scouts with a special Court of Honor at the First Baptist Church in Westwood. Current Westwood High School seniors Charles Goodman, Jack Goodwin, and Liam La Croix began their careers in Scouting in elementary school as Cub Scouts, and all three have continued as active members of Troop 3. Over the years since sixth grade, they have participated in numerous camping and hiking trips that honed their outdoor skills, represented their troop at both local and national Scouting events and camps, served their community through service projects, and challenged themselves with leadership roles.

After years of hard work, these ambitious young men capped off their achievements with Eagle Scout projects designed to improve their local community. Charles wanted to benefit the musical community at Westwood High School, where music teachers did not have a way to professionally record student performances or teach students about the recording process. To meet that need, Charles designed a Mobile Music Recording Studio Cart, which would allow groups to record in any performance space at WHS. The studio includes professional recording microphones, as well as a custom-designed cart.

For his Eagle Scout project, Jack constructed a new walkway at Hale Education, a local forest frequently visited by the Scout troop. The original structure had deteriorated over time, and Jack led the effort to replace it with a larger, weather resistant walkway. The new path provides a safer and more durable route through a high-traffic area near the ropes course and will benefit visitors for years to come.

Liam’s project involved constructing a set of steps up the Page and Sadie trail at Hale Education. The trail had become eroded by foot and mountain bike traffic, but with help from the troop, Liam created a durable wood and stone stairway, reducing erosion and helping to preserve the area. These steps are used every day by hikers through Hale and help to delineate the hiking path from the mountain biking trail.

In celebrating their accomplishments, Charles, Jack, and Liam are grateful to their troopmates, troop leaders and mentors, and families, who have supported them along the way. Even as the graduates look forward to college and their next set of adventures, they plan to check in on Troop 3 and encourage fellow Scouts who are also striving for the prestigious Eagle rank.

If interested in joining or learning more about Scouts, Troop 3 Westwood meets every Thursday at 7:00 PM in Fellowship Hall at First Baptist Church. Further information is available at www.troop3westwood.org.
