Westwood Fire Responds to Fire Alarm at Fox Hill Village
At 12:31 p.m. today, Wednesday, December 29, 2021, the Westwood Fire Department was alerted to a box alarm zone going off at Fox Hill Village. The Fire Department, with a station located just minutes away, provided an immediate response, said Public Information Officer Carolyn Wade. An engine and ladder company responded with the Fire Captain, along with the Fire Chief.
The box alarm appears to have been set off by an electrical problem, possibly electrical arcing which may have caused a small electrical fire, said Ms. Wade. A contractor was working on scene, and that project may have been either the cause of, or related to, the problem, she said. The incident "wasn't huge," Ms. Wade noted, with no sign of fire or smoke visible from outside of the building where the incident was located.
Norwood Fire Department provided an engine for mutual aid coverage at the Westwood Fire Station. In the case of mutual aid, a neighboring town's fire department stands ready to provide additional service to a town if needed. Norwood Fire provided station coverage while Westwood Fire addressed the incident at Fox Hill Village.
No injuries were reported and no evacuations were required, said Ms. Wade.
