A Go-Fund Me account has been set up for the pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle while crossing Washington Street on the afternoon of Thursday, March 10, 2022.  Ms. Maria Tassiopoulos, owner of Islington Pizza, set up the account for her employee, Kevin Torres, the pedestrian who was seriously injured in that accident.

On the Go-Fund Me page, Ms. Tassiopoulos notes that Mr. Torres has a two year-old son and his wife is out of work. Meanwhile, he will not be returning to Islington Pizza for weeks and will some out-of-pocket medical expenses.

"[W]ith no money coming in, we want Kevin to be able to stay home and fully recover without worrying about his finances," states Ms. Tassiopoulos on the Go-Fund Me page.

While the police investigation into the accident is still open, Westwood Police Lieutenant Christopher Sheehy noted that Massachusetts State Police sent a trooper and photographer from a reconstruction scene and an Assistant District Attorney also was on the scene. Westwood Police took statements from several witnesses, which he said were a factor in not citing the driver of the vehicle.
