Following the close of polls at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, the unofficial results show that:

  • Anthony Mullin and Dorothy "Dori" Parmelee have won the two open seats on School Committee.
  • Philip Giordano has won the one-year term on Planning Board.

School Committee

In the contest for School Committee, the results were consistent across all five voting precincts. Incumbent Mr. Mullin was the top vote getter across the board with 2,017 votes, followed by Ms. Parmelee in second place across all districts with 1,671 votes, and Heather Morrison in third across all districts with 995 votes.

Planning Board

In the contest for the one-year seat on Planning Board, Mr. Giordano appears to have prevailed in a close race against incumbent Thomas McCusker, 1,102 votes to 1,027 votes. Mr. Giordano won in Precincts 2, 3, and 4, with 40.40 percent of the vote while Mr. McCusker was the top vote getter in Precincts 1 and 5 with 37.65 percent of the vote. Blanks left by voters declining to vote comprised 21.70 percent of the available vote in this race.

It appears that Precinct 3 was key to Mr. Giordano's win. Precinct 3 is where Mr. Giordano had the most comfortable lead over Mr. McCusker. Mr. Giordano had  78 more votes than his competitor there, in an election where Mr. Giordano appears to have won by only 75 votes.  The spread of votes between the two candidates in all other precincts was much smaller.
