This Sunday is Father's Day and Monday is the second annual recognition of the new federal holiday, Juneteenth. Read on for suggestions for fathers to stay fit, watch a sports game and/or enjoy a freebie just for Dad.  For Juneteenth, there will be local celebrations at Hale in Westwood and next door in Norwood.

West Roxbury Main Streets Art Walk - Fri June 17 8:00 am

West Roxbury Main Streets Art Walk is a multi-day event from Friday, June 10, 2022 to Saturday, June 25, 2022, which features displays of local artwork for sale in windows of businesses of West Roxbury.The event gives visibility to local artists and helps to bring business to West Roxbury's small businesses. [more details]

The need for blood donations is acute, as The American Red Cross experiences its worst shortage is over a decade.  Slots are available between 9:00 AM to 2:00 p.m. [more details]


Many Cultures, One Heart Festival - Sat June 18 10:00 am

Framingham Centre Common Cultural District

A festival that celebrates the artistic and ethnic diversity of Framingham will be held on Framingham Centre Common. There will be arts and crafts booths, multicultural music and dance performances and a festival after party. [more details]


Norwood Juneteenth - Sat June 18 11:00 am

Norwood celebrates its first Juneteenth celebration, with art, performances and food.  Participants include the Norwood Historical Society, Espy magazine.com and community vendors. This event is free. [more details]


Juneteenth at Hale - Sat June 18 4:00 pm

Hale hosts a three-day observation of Juneteenth. On Saturday, a Playback Theater event and discussion is planned. [more details]


26th Father's Day 5K Road Race and Family Fun Walk - Sun Jun 19 7:30 am

Participants in the 26th Father's Day Road Race can run or walk the 5k course in historic North Easton Village. 
Strollers for kids to ride in are welcome, and will start at the back of the race. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female runners and for the top finisher in each age category.

Father's Day at the Zoo - Sun June 19 10:00 am

Franklin Park Zoo and Stone Zoo

On Father's Day, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Franklin Park and Stone Zoos celebrate dads with free admission for fathers. The special offer runs all day with the last entry being 30 minutes before closing. . [more details]

Juneteenth at MFA Boston - Mon June 20 10:00 am

Admission is free to the MFA in honor of Juneteenth. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis with a valid Massachusetts zip code. Activities include drop-in art making, a MFA job fair, Spotlight Talk on radicalized Black movements and artists, a talk with artist Ife Franklin, and more. [more details]
