Westwood Resident Amy Doherty Appointed to Board of Thrive Support & Advocacy

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. (Nov. 12, 2024) – Thrive Support & Advocacy, a nonprofit empowering youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Central Massachusetts, announced today that it has appointed three new members to its Board of Directors.

The new directors, each elected to two-year terms, are:

  • Amy Reardon Doherty, Chief Legal Officer, Corporate Secretary, Web Industries, Inc.;
  • Mary Ellen Duggan, School Nurse Leader, Wellness Coordinator and Homeless Liaison, Public Schools of Northborough and Southborough; and
  • Stephen Maintanis, Senior Vice President, Commercial Lending Team Leader, Main Street Bank.

“Amy, Mary Ellen and Stephen bring rich and diverse work experience and varied professional capabilities to our board,” said Thrive President & CEO Sean Rose. “They also bring a tremendous amount of passion for our mission and the individuals who we serve. We are fortunate to have them.”

Doherty, of Westwood, has over two decades of legal experience and in her current role at Web Industries, Inc. sets strategic vision, priorities and goals that align with business objectives. Previously, she served as Assistant General Counsel and Director at Bose Corporation for nearly 10 years, leading a team in providing legal support to global operations. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Tufts University and received a juris doctor degree from Northeastern University School of Law.

Duggan, of Northborough, served as a Southborough Public School nurse for 15 years before she was appointed to her current multifaceted role in which she manages all school nurses in the district, implements wellness policies and procedures, and ensures that homeless youth in Southborough and Northborough have access to education. Prior to this role, Duggan served as a pediatric nurse at UMass Memorial Medical Center for two decades. She has received honors for her varied expertise including the Massachusetts Nurse Administrator of the Year Award and the Rotarian Paul Harris Service Award. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Fitchburg State University and received a master’s in education at Cambridge College.

Maintanis, of Rutland, has over a decade of experience in banking and began his career at Main Street Bank, working his way up to his current role, serving as an advisor and mentoring a team of lenders to deliver support throughout the commercial loan process. In between these roles, he served as Assistant Vice President, Portfolio Manager at United Bank in Worcester, working with nonprofits among other organizations to facilitate business development, oversee loan servicing and manage portfolios. He earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a minor in psychology from Framingham State University.
