The League School for Autism has reimagined its traditional 5K run/walk into a Family Fun Run +5K to build inclusion of the school's neurodivergent students with Autism, their families, and the entire community.
This year’s event will take place on Saturday, May 11th at the League School campus in Walpole. There will be fun for all ages, including a Touch-A-Truck interactive display (compliments of Walpole Police), the New England Revolution street team and their Mascot Slyde, a sensory exploration area, face-painting, sidewalk chalk, and much, much more.
“Our 5K run/walk event has always included our students – this year, it’s reimagined for our students with everyone else included. Social inclusion is critical to quality of life for our neurodivergent students. Their participation in community activities prepares students to thrive in a neurodiverse world. What better way to open their world than to open the door for others to enter while everyone is having fun?” says Larry Sauer, CEO of League School for Autism.
The Family Fun Run +5K registration begins at 9:00 AM, the walk/run/5K starts at 10:00 AM, and a post-event celebration will be held at Beacon’s Restaurant beginning at 11:30 AM.
Bring the kids, bring your strollers and wagons, and wear a pair of walking shoes. Serious runners will still receive a runner’s bib and finish time for the 5K. Water and light breakfast snacks will be available for participants in the morning.
This event coincides with Walpole Day starting at 11:00 AM, so families can keep the fun going by heading over to Stone Field.
