The City of Newton presents a 4th of July celebration, and invites visitors to come dressed in patriotic costume.
Kid's Morning runs from 10 a.m. to noon at Newton Centre Bowl (off Tyler Terrace) and is designed with child-friendly activities for kids aged 3 to 12, including a patriot costume parade, arts/crafts table, firetruck, and free Cabot's Ice Cream. (In case of rain, the Kids Morning will be cancelled.)
Then in the afternoon into evening at Albermarle, from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Cushing Amusements provides a carnival, and vendors will be set up in an open air market. Live music and performances start at 2 p.m. and continue into the night.
Fireworks are planned for 9:00 p.m. Additional details are available here.

Sunny, with a high of 86 and low of 60 degrees. Sunny in the morning, clear overnight.
The article title is VERY misleading; Summer Street is NOT being paved this year.
Thanks for raising that point, Brandon! The headline has now been changed to more clearly communicate that the article describes a summer schedule of street paving. I agree the initial headline could easily be read to mean, incorrectly, that Summer Street is being paved. Thanks for the helpful comment.
New Director of Human Resources. Money better spent towards the increased maintenance of the new Pine Hill megaplex or hiring aids.
Amazing. We must be flush with cash. Or will be beginning August 1st.
