The City of Newton presents a 4th of July celebration, and invites visitors to come dressed in patriotic costume.
Kid's Morning runs from 10 a.m. to noon at Newton Centre Bowl (off Tyler Terrace) and is designed with child-friendly activities for kids aged 3 to 12, including a patriot costume parade, arts/crafts table, firetruck, and free Cabot's Ice Cream. (In case of rain, the Kids Morning will be cancelled.)
Then in the afternoon into evening at Albermarle, from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Cushing Amusements provides a carnival, and vendors will be set up in an open air market. Live music and performances start at 2 p.m. and continue into the night.

These are great strides in addressing concerns about a lack of openness and two way dialogue raised by Westwood citizens. Thanks to the Select Board and to Mr. Read for listening and acting.
In promulgating the public comment policy, the Select Board has taken a big step towards showing willingness to engage in conversation with Westwood residents about the many important issues at hand—currently, the Fire Station 1 and the budget.
