Thanks to University Station for contributing this news to Westwood Minute.
University Station in Westwood is hosting a canned food drive to benefit The Westwood Food Pantry from now through Wednesday, November 16, 2022. Donations can be dropped off at Five Below, one of the retail stores in the mixed-used development.
Suggested items include canned vegetables, stuffing mix, potato mix, gravy, pie and roasting pans, baby food and more. Visit ShopUniversityStation.com for a full list of items needed for donation.
“We thank University Station for their commitment to this important donation drive to help local families this holiday season,” says Melissa Mahaffey, President of the Westwood Food Pantry.
“University Station is pleased to continue to support the Westwood Food Pantry through this donation drive. It’s a simple way to help our neighbors in need and help stock the shelves of their pantry for the holidays,” says Rebekah Macchia, Marketing Director for University Station.
In addition to the canned food drive at University Station, food donations can be dropped off at the Westwood Council on Aging at 60 Nahatan Street in Westwood, Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
The Westwood Food Pantry provides essential provisions to individuals and families in the community who need temporary assistance. It is currently open, by appointment, for in-person shopping on the first Saturday and third Tuesday of each month. Call or email to register as a new client or to schedule a shopping time. I completely agree. Washington St. also has some terrible patches, especially the handicap ramps. I don’t understand why the DPW is responsible for clearing sidewalks in front of homes and businesses. It seems that those should be the responsibility of the property owner.
The sidewalks on High Rock and Hartford have been pretty treacherous this winter too. I didn't contact DPW about it though.
Cloudy , with a high of 43 and low of 26 degrees. Overcast in the morning, sunny in the afternoon, partly cloudy during the evening, overcast overnight.
A true hero, though I'm not sure about the naming of the intersection after him. We already have a school named after him. Is there no one else who dedicated their life to this Town that the intersection could be named in memory of?
Thanks for the comment. Perhaps other candidates for a named intersection might be considered by the Select Board if presented with a petition or similar process as what was used here.
