A construction worker fell off a second-story roof in Westwood earlier this week, said Carolyn Wade, Westwood Fire Department's office manager. While Ms. Wade did not give a specific date or location of the incident, a Facebook posting by Westwood Firefighters Local 1994 indicates that the fall happened in the morning, about three days ago. That would put the date at or around Tuesday, March 21st.
Construction was being done on a deck at the property, but the deck had not yet been completed, said Ms. Wade. She noted that the worker fell off the roof onto the area where the deck would have been, and where support beams were in place at the time.
Ms. Wade said that MedFlight was contacted, but its estimated time of arrival was 25 minutes. Given the amount of wait time for a MedFlight, the worker was transported instead by ambulance to a Boston trauma center. The man was conscious following the fall, said Ms. Wade.
Thanks to Carolyn Wade of the Westwood Fire Department for speaking with Westwood Minute.
I am in complete support of the refurbishing and reopening of Norwood Hospital. I was working at Saint Elizabeth during this time. When steward took over our HOSPITAL group, Caritas Christie. They decimated not only our hospitals, but also two hospitals in the tiny nation of Malta.
Moderate or heavy snow showers, with a high of 38 and low of 24 degrees. Sunny for the morning, light sleet in the afternoon, ice pellets for the evening, clear overnight.
Senator Rush is correct re: the ambulatory services. One only has to drive on RTE 109/Westwood to see the number of out of town ambulances going through town at all times of the day. Then they have to get to Boston or Needham.
This is progress and I am glad to see the Select Board moving in the right direction. However, a majority of voters at last Monday's Special Town Meeting voted to recommend that the Select Board immediately cease its lawsuit against the Westwood Land Trust.
