Patriots' Mac Jones Celebrates Autism Empowerment Month at Wapole's League School of Greater Boston

WALPOLE -- The League School of Greater Boston (League School), located less than five miles from Gillette Stadium along Route 1, welcomed two special guests on Wednesday, April 5th, when New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones and his girlfriend, Sophie Scott, made a visit to the school.

Jones, Scott, and representatives from the New England Patriots were greeted at the school by League School administrators and staff. They then toured the school and met with students from various programs.

April is being celebrated as Autism Empowerment Month at League School, a day and residential school serving approximately 100 students on the autism spectrum. Staff explained to Jones and Scott the ways in which the school helps its students be as independent as they can be while helping them thrive both inside the classroom and beyond.

Jones and Scott stopped by a culinary arts class to help students make Japanese-inspired treats, purchased snacks at the school’s store, made stepping stones in the school’s vocational center, and played communication board games with students.

The day ended with Jones and Scott doing skills drills and playing catch with students outside on the school’s field.

It was the first visit from a Patriots player to League School since safety Duron Harmon toured the school in 2019.

“During Autism Empowerment Month we celebrate our students and help them grow and reach their fullest potential. I can’t think of a better way to kick off this month than with a visit from such a well-known and well-respected athlete such as Mac Jones,” League School CEO Larry Sauer said. “We want to thank Mac and Sophie for being so thoughtful and caring with our students. We also thank the Kraft Group and the entire New England Patriots organization for coming today and seeing firsthand the great work we do at League School every day.”
