Norwood Police and Norwood Fire, assisted by Westwood Fire, responded to a head-on collision and rollover crash on Tuesday morning, April 16, 2024, involving two vehicles in the area of University Avenue near Route 1, with serious injuries resulting to both drivers.
Firefighters from Norwood and Westwood worked to extricate the two trapped drivers from their separate vehicles. The drivers were only occupants of their vehicles, described as a red truck and white car.
One person was transported by Med-flight to a Boston hospital. The other person was transported by a Westwood Fire ambulance to a Boston hospital.
Calls to 911 regarding the incident were received around 10:40 a.m. The crash resulted in a downed utility pole. Norwood Light Department was called to the scene to secure the downed electrical equipment while Norwood Police investigated.

The cost of $27,000 could have been avoided if the tax payers were notified about the idea of taking the WLT to court and it was discussed at a regular town meeting. Especially when a town takes the unusual step of taking its own land trust to court.
