Christopher Coleman, current town administrator for the Town of Westwood, has been hired as city manager of Milford, Delaware, and is scheduled to succeed the retiring Milford City Manager Mark Whitfield on August 4, 2025, according to reports of local media in Delaware this week.
On May 14, 2025, WBOC TV16 reported on the Milford City Council's approval of a $195,000 salary offer to present to Mr. Coleman. Following that offer, the City of Milford has now announced the official hiring of Mr. Coleman through local media outlets, such as Delaware Live and Milford Live, which each reported the news on June 2nd.
According to local Milford media reports, Mr. Coleman will begin his duties in his new position on August 4th.
Westwood Minute notes that the Milford city manager position is full-time and is under the direct supervision of the Milford City Council. A job description for the position in Milford lists a bevy of tasks that appear similar to those which Mr. Coleman has performed as town administrator for the Town of Westwood, in leading the administrative offices of town and city government.

This is progress and I am glad to see the Select Board moving in the right direction. However, a majority of voters at last Monday's Special Town Meeting voted to recommend that the Select Board immediately cease its lawsuit against the Westwood Land Trust.
What is the citizen's petition about? I checked the town website, and the only information I could find on town meeting articles was from last year. The public hearing dates for 2026 are posted as February 24-25.
Apparently, you need to submit a public records request through the town's FOIA portal. What a shame, since it should have been posted to the town website upon certification of petition signatures.
Westwood Minute has obtained a copy of the petition and has added a short description of it to the article. A copy of the petition is attached below the article.
