It's easy to stay local for fun this weekend, with great events in Westwood, Wellesley, Quincy, and Dedham! On Saturday, locals can choose from Westwood Day, the New England Fall Flower Show, and a Hot Air Balloon & Laser Show! After Saturday's excitement, head out on Sunday to the Big Sports Card & Memorabilia Show.
Westwood High School
Westwood Day kicks off at 9 AM with a 5K race, followed at 10 AM with a Fun Run. Activities, entertainment, a Vendor Village and food court open at 10 AM and run until 3 PM. [more details]
The Garden at Elm Bank
Get Ready For the Horticulture Event of New England! In partnership with New England Home, the weekend-long event will feature curated vendors, food trucks, workshops and programs, and floral installations. A selection of 80 vendors will highlight horticulture and gardening products, as well as some offering arts & crafts, home décor, and health & beauty. [more details]
Merrymount Parkway (Pageant and Adams fields)
Free family-friendly fun runs from 4 PM to 10 PM and includes a stationary hot air balloon display, games, costumed characters, food trucks, live music and more. Bring blankets or chairs for the laser light show from 9 PM to 10 PM.
Free, tethered hot air balloon rides are offered to the first 500 people (age 18+ or accompanied by an adult). To participate, visit the balloon ride tent when you arrive.
Visitors are encouraged to use public transit or shared transportation to this event. [more details]
Holiday Inn
From 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM, over 85 vendors will be available to buy, sell, and trade. Admission is $3 and youth under age 16 enter for free. [more details]

First of all, the intersection improvements are scheduled for the upcoming years and they are not related to Westwood at all.
The plaza on 109 where the Post Office is located would be a prime site for a modern development. It is a relic from the 1950#. Why haven’t the town planners sought a project for that location?
This is Route 1, the most heavily commercialized corridor in the region, and calling this an “existential threat” isn’t based in reality.
